Serena Williams, Novak Djokovic wins Rogers Cup

Serena Williams captured second Rogers Cup title, after winning the first 10 years ago in 2001 by beating 10th seed Samantha Stosur 6-4, 6-2.

Liezel Huber and Lisa Raymond claimed the first WTA title of their recently-formed partnership, winning the Premier-level Rogers Cup after Victoria Azarenka and Maria Kirilenko gave them a walkover. Azarenka announcing her withdrawal due to a right hand injury.

Top-ranked Novak Djokovic won the Rogers Cup for his ninth tournament victory of the year and record fifth in a season in an ATP Masters 1,000 event, beating Mardy Fish 6-2, 3-6, 6-4.

In the doubles final, Nenad Zimonjic of Serbia and Michael Llodra of France beat American brothers Bob and Mike Bryan 6-4, 6-7, 10-5.

King, Shvedova win women’s doubles title at US Open

Play opened with Vania King serving at 4-5 in the third set, already down a point.   As it was suspended yesterday due to rain.

Vania King and Yaroslava Shvedova saved a match point to win their second straight Grand Slam women’s doubles title beating second-seeded Liezel Huber and Nadia Petrova 2-6, 6-4, 7-6 (4).

Huber, Bob Bryan win mixed doubles at US Open

Top-seeded Americans Liezel Huber and Bob Bryan won their second Grand Slam title in mixed doubles beating Kveta Peschke of Czech Republic and Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi of Pakistan 6-4, 6-4.

Azarenka beats Sharapova for Bank of the West Classic title

"I tried to start aggressive right away and not let her come in," Azarenka said. "When she gets on a roll it's hard to keep up. I had to be on top of her every moment and not give her the chance to come back."

No. 8 seed Azarenka beat No. 5 Maria Sharapova 6-4, 6-1 on Sunday to win the Bank of the West Classic, her first title of the season.

Stosur wins Family Circle Cup title

“This is bigger than Osaka, and to do it here and on clay and be playing well all week and everything is just a great feeling,” Stosur said.

Samantha Stosur earned her first title on clay defeating era Zvonareva 6-0, 6-3 to win the Family Circle Cup.

Liezel Huber of the United States and Nadia Petrova of Russia defeated Vania King of the United States and Michaella Krajicek of The Netherlands for the doubles titles.

Why was it so important for you to win here?
I was very emotional at the end of the match because, as you know, I’ve wanted to win here for a long time now.  And I’ve been so close the last past years, it was important for me to win.  Plus, I was lucky to have the crowd on my side this time.  Everyone was behind my opponent in the final last year.
