Goerges wins Porsche Grand Prix title

Julia Goerges stuns World No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki with 7-6 (3), 6-3 at the Porsche Grand Prix final.

” I only know I won, but I don’t know how,” Goerges said.  ” Playing against Caroline is like climbing a high hill.

To make a point on that Wozniacki was looking for her fourth title of the year.

This is Goerges 2nd WTA and the biggest career title, last won in Gastein Ladies, Austria 2010.  She will now move to a career-best ranking of  No. 27.

Pairing for the first time Sabine Lisicki of Germany and Samantha Stosur of Australia won the doubles final against Kristina Barrois and Jasmin Woehr of Germany 6-1, 7-6(5).

Nadal wins sixth Barcelona Open title

World No. 1 Rafael Nadal regained the Barcelona Open title, beating David Ferrer 6-2, 6-4 in their second clay final in two weeks.

Rafael Nadal won Barcelona Open from 2005-09, skipping it last year and now 2011, that’s include three final wins over David Ferrer.  It was his 45th career ATP title.

“I feel at home here,” said Nadal.  “It’s a very special tournament.  It always has been as I grew up watching this tournament.  It’s a historical tournament with a great tradition and great champions.  It’s more than a dream to win here six times.”

In doubles, First-time pairing Santiago Gonzalez and Scott Lipsky captured the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell title with a 5-7, 6-2, 12-10 victory over Bob Bryan and Mike Bryans.

“better late than never” Brianti won first wta title at Grand Prix SAR La Princesse Lalla Meryem

Italian Alberta Brianti defeated seventh-seeded Simona Halep of Romania 6-4, 6-3 in the final of the Grand Prix SAR La Princesse Lalla Meryem to earn her first WTA title.

“It’s not my favorite surface, but better late than never! and  I’m very happy to win my first title.”  said Brianti  who will  turned 31 this month.

No.1-seeded Czech duo Andrea Hlavackova and Renata Voracova won the doubles title 6-3,6-4, beating Nina Bratchikova and Sandra Klemenschits.

Nadal extends Monte Carlo Masters title into 7

“To start the clay season like this is fantastic, but it’s more fantastic to win Monte Carlo another time,”

The top-ranked Rafael Nadal won Monaco clay-court for the 37th straight time, where he has not lost since 2003.  It was his 44th career title.

This was his first tournament victory since October, ending a run of three consecutive defeats in title matches.

Rafael Nadal won his seventh straight Monte Carlo Masters title by beating David Ferrer 6-4, 7-5 in an all-Spanish final.

Mike and Bob Bryan linched their 70th tour-level team title and second Monte Carlo Master title, with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over unseeded South American pairing Juan Ignacio Chela and Bruno Soares.

No. 1 Wozniacki wins Family Circle Cup title

Caroline Wozniacki claimed her 15th career WTA title, 10 of those coming at the Premier level. With a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Elena Vesnina at the Family Circle Cup.

 

After her single match Elena Vesnina team up with Sania Mirza to take the Family Circle Cup doubles championship with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Americans Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Meghann Sahughnessy.

Sweeting claim first career title at US Men’s Clay Court Championship

American wild card Ryan Sweeting claim his first career title at the US Men's Clay Court Championship with a 6-4 7-6(3) win over sixth seed Kei Nishikori.

The Bryan's won their third consecutive title at the US Men’s Clay Court Championship and their fourth overall with a 6-7(4) 6-2 10-5 win over fellow Americans John Isner and Sam Querrey.

Andujar wins first title at Grand Prix Hassan II title

Pablo Andujar of Spain won his first career title after beating Potito Starace of Italy 6-1, 6-2 in the Grand Prix Hassan II final.

In doubles, Robert Lindstedt and Horia Tecau successfully defended the Grand Prix Hassan II, with 6-2, 6-1 win over Colin Fleming and Igor Zelenay.
