Pavlyuchenkova defend title at Monterrey Open

Second-seeded Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova of Russia win her third WTA title and successfully defending the Monterrey Open championship, defeated top seeded Jelena Jankovic of Serbia 2-6, 6-2, 6-3.

Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova improved to 3-0 lifetime in WTA finals and 10-0 lifetime in Monterrey.

Benesova and Zahlavova Strycova won the doubles

Iveta Benesova and Barbora Zahlavova Strycova won the doubles for the second year in a row, defeating Anna-Lena Groenefeld and Vania King in the final for the second year in a row as well, 6-7(8), 6-2, 10-6

Dokic beats Safarova to win Malaysian Open

Australia’s Jelena Dokic beat Lucie Safarova of the Czech Republic 2-6, 7-6 (9), 6-4 to earn her sixth career WTA single and ending her eight and a half years drought.

Safina and Voskoboeva won doubles at BMW Malaysia Open

Dinara Safina and Galina Voskoboeva won the doubles title at BMW Malaysia Open defeating Noppawan Lertcheewakarn and Jessica Moore, 7-5, 2-6. 10-5.

“It was nice to win the doubles title and be back to winning ways.  I am definitely on my way back to my best form after an injury ravaged year last year, so I am pretty happy with this win”.  Safina Said.
