Dulgheru defends Warsaw Open title

Alexandra Dulgheru of Romania has successfully defended her Warsaw Open title, beating Zheng Jie of China 6-3, 6-4 in the Warsaw Open final. “I just play my best tennis here.” Dulghreu said.

Last year, 19 year-old Dulgheru qualified for her first WTA Tour main draw in Warsaw and became the first player outside Top 200 (ranked 201), in Tour history to win a title (premier-level-tournament) and fifth just winning a title ouside Top 200.

In the doubles final, Virginia Ruano Pascual and Meghann Shaughnessy beat Cara Black and Yan Zi, 63 64. Ruano Pascual won her 43rd career doubles title on the Tour, Shaughnessy her 16th.
