Women’s world number one Dinara Safina claimed her second major clay title in a row here on Sunday as she beats Danish teenager Caroline Wozniacki 6-2, 6-4 to win the Madrid Masters.
Wozniacki, 19, will make her career Top ten breakthrough in Monday’s final pre-French Open rankings.
Huber, Black win double also 25th doubles title
Cara Black and Leizel Huber won their first doubles title since Dubai, when they defeated Kveta Paschke and Lisa Raymond in the final of the Mutua Madrileña Madrid Open 3-6 6-4 10-4.
The title was Black and Huber’s 25th doubles trophy as a pair. During her career Black has won 49 doubles titles and sits at No.14 on the all-time list. Huber has won 37 doubles titles and is 19th on the all-time list.
