Lisicki captured Family Circle Cup title, beats Wozniacki

German 16th seed Sabine Lisicki won her first tour title with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Danish fifth seed Caroline Wozniacki on Sunday in the Family Circle Cup.

“I couldn’t believe that I won, because I didn’t use my match points,” Lisicki said.  “Then I finally won.

“I don’t know which match point it was – seventh, eighth – it felt like 30th.  But I was just so happy I won.”

Lisicki won US$188,000 and a crystal cup for her first tour victory.  She also becomes the first player to win the Family Circle Cup who has never won a tournament title previously. Ranked No. 63, she is expected to climb to No. 43 with the victory.

Playing together for the third time, Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Nadia Petrova the duo captured doubles title on Sunday with a tense match tie-break win over surprise finalists Liga Dekmeijere and Patty Schnyder, 67(5) 62 119.

Mattek-Sands and Petrova played their first two tournaments together in recent weeks at the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami and The MPS Group Championships in Ponte Vedra Beach.

Vinci beats Kirilenko to win Barcelona Open

Roberta Vinci of Italy won the WTA Barcelona claycourt tournament on Sunday defeating title-holder and sixth seed Maria Kirilenko of Russia 6-0, 6-4.

This is her second WTA Tour Title, She won her first tour title in Bogota, Colombia, in 2007, when Tathiana Garbin of Italy retired during the third set with a stomach illness.

Nadal wins fifth straight Monte Carlo Masters title, beats Djokovic

Rafael Nadal became the first player to win five straight Monte Carlo Masters titles by beating Novak Djokovic 6-3, 2-6, 6-1 on Sunday.

He is now 23-1 in claycourt finals, with his only loss coming at Hamburg in May 2007 to Roger Federer.

“It’s unbelieveble to win five titles in Monte Carlo. If I had to pick one Masters Series to win before the season it would be here.
