Nicolas Almagro, the fourth seed from Spain, won his second consecutive title here by defeating French second seed Gael Monfils 6-4, 6-4 in the ATP men’s final.
Almagro became the first back-to-back winner since the event moved from Mexico City in 2001 and took his fifth ATP title – all of them coming on clay.
Monfils, 22, won his only ATP title came in 2005 at Sopot. He fell to 2-2 lifetime against Almagro, whom he defeated in the third round of this year’s Australian Open.
