The World No. 3 Jelena Jankovic was beaten 6-3, 7-5 by Estonia’s Kaia Kanepi. As she described as one of the worst matches of her career.
“I tried to come back but today was just a horrible game,” said Jankovic. “I just didn’t feel my shots at all. I kept framing and making all these unforced errors. I couldn’t put two balls together in the court. I basically gave her the match. I played so badly it was tough for me to even be there on the court.
“I think this is one of the worst matches in my career, to be honest. For like 15 games I didn’t put the ball on the court. For me it was horrible. For some reason I felt weak on the court. I tried to hit the ball as hard as I could and it just didn’t go anywhere. My goal was to put two balls on the court and I couldn’t do it. I’ve never played such a bad match before.”
